Program Description Vermont Community Foundation NaN Vermont On June 9, the Vermont Community Foundation announced the creation of a Main Street Business Relief Fund for Arlington, Dorset, and Manchester, making at least $1 million available in grants to small businesses in these three communities. The Fund’s development was led by an anonymous donor, with additional contributions from area philanthropists and private foundations. The Fund is encouraging additional contributions from the public and is hoping to boost the total pool available to $1.5 million. Grants of $4,000-$25,000 will be available, based on the relative size of a business, its level of financial distress, and its importance to the town’s vibrancy. The Fund will give priority to businesses in sectors most important to a town’s vitality and character, particularly food, lodging, retail, personal care, outdoor recreation, pet care, landscaping, arts, and local publications. The application deadline is June 22. Working Lands Enterprise Board Announces COVID-19 Response … Montpelier Vermont June 16, 2020 | Montpelier, VT – In response to the ongoing urgent needs arising from COVID-19 challenges to Vermont’s Working Lands businesses, the Working Lands Enterprise Board (WLEB) has announced that 16 businesses will receive over $250,000 in COVID-19 Response Business Development Grants within the sectors of agriculture and forestry. Vermont NaN Vermont On May 20, Vermont Gov. Phil Scott announced creation of a $400 million economic relief and recovery package, using funds from the state’s $1.25 billion CARES Act allocation. The package consists of an initial $310 million program for immediate relief, then a $90 million program for long-term recovery investments. Of the $310 million immediate relief program, $150 million will be earmarked for Restart Vermont Emergency Assistance Action Grants for affected food service, accommodation, retail, and agricultural businesses; $80 million for the Vermont Economic Injury Disaster Loan and Grant Program, offering low-interest, extended-term loans of up to $150,000, plus grants to cover three months of fixed costs; and $20 million for the Vermont Restart Loan and Grant Program, providing assistance to sole proprietors and micro businesses with fewer than five employees and gross revenues of less than $1 million. The package also includes funding for technical assistance for small businesses to help them re-emerge from the pandemic in a viable way, with attention to business operations, digital strategy, architecture, technology, and legal services.
